PETLIBRO Granary 2 Smart Feeder: Specs, Price, Pros & Cons
Most automatic feeders know only what they dropped into the bowl. The Granary 2 Smart Feeder is the first PETLIBRO model that also weighs what is left, so the app can report what a cat ate instead of what the motor dispensed. Everything else follows the older Granary layout: a tall kibble hopper over a removable steel bowl, run from a phone over Wi-Fi.
It sits at the bottom of the Granary 2 family. The Vision models add a camera and pet recognition. This one has neither, which keeps it simpler and cheaper and leaves the scale to do all the work. PETLIBRO's own tagline for it is "precision to the gram for one pet", and the qualifier at the end is the important part.
The scale makes two feeding styles possible. Scheduled meals work as they do on any feeder. Smart Refill Mode tops the bowl up whenever it drops below a level you set, within a daily cap, which suits a grazer better than fixed meal times. Some of the software sits behind a paywall, though. Alerts about changes in eating habits need a Petlibro Care subscription, while the low-food and blockage warnings come with the feeder.
It makes the most sense in a one-cat home where appetite is worth watching: an older cat, a cat on a weight plan, one coming back from an illness. With two cats sharing one bowl, the intake figure describes both of them together, and a feeder that recognizes each animal is the tool for that job. It handles dry kibble only, so wet-food feeders are a separate search.

How this VS Score was computed
Score 37: each known spec is measured against the median of all smart feeders (10 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 37% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.

Editor’s note
I would buy the Granary 2 for one reason, and it is the bowl scale. Knowing that a cat ate less for three days running is information a standard feeder cannot give you, because a standard feeder only counts portions leaving the hopper. PETLIBRO quotes gram-level accuracy for the bowl, which is more than enough to see a trend.
The scale comes with conditions. PETLIBRO wants it recalibrated every time the feeder is taken apart for cleaning, and it asks for a flat, stable floor. The spec block on its product page says the feeder is not suitable for carpet, while the FAQ further down says many carpets are fine as long as the base does not sink. I would put it on a hard floor if the numbers matter to you.
The second catch is money after the purchase. PETLIBRO's own footnote says eating-habit alerts need a Petlibro Care plan, and its plan table lists trend charts and data recording as subscription features too. How much of the scale's value survives without paying is not spelled out on the product page, so price the plan before choosing this over the older Granary Smart Feeder.
Storage is decent, with one caveat. The hopper has a gasketed lid, a desiccant slot and a self-closing outlet, and the listing calls it sealed. The FAQ is more careful and says moisture- and pest-resistant, not airtight, which is the realistic reading. Desiccant bags are a running consumable, used in pairs and swapped every couple of weeks.
For two or more cats I would skip it. One bowl and one scale cannot say who ate, so the number that justifies the price turns into a household total. The PETLIBRO Granary 2 Vision Duo adds a camera, a second bowl and pet recognition for that case, and the original Granary Smart Feeder is the better buy if meals on a schedule are all you need.

The bottom line
The PETLIBRO Granary 2 Smart Feeder earns a VS Score of 37 on the 37% of specifications we could compare like for like — an indication, not a ranking.
- Who it’s for
- Owners of a single cat whose appetite needs watching, such as an older cat or one on a weight plan, who want the app to log every meal by weight.
- Who should look elsewhere
- Homes where two or more pets share the bowl, since the scale cannot tell them apart. Skip it too if you feed wet food or will not pay a subscription for the eating-habit alerts.
- The trade-off that matters
- The scale is the reason to buy it and also its fussiest part: it wants a firm floor, a recalibration after every clean, and a paid plan before its readings turn into warnings.
- The main alternative
- PETLIBRO Granary Smart Feeder, if scheduled meals are all you need. It keeps the same hopper-and-bowl design without the scale and costs less.
