PETLIBRO Dockstream 2 Smart Cordless Fountain Specs
The original Dockstream Cordless had no app at all, just indicator lights on its base. The Dockstream 2 Smart Cordless Fountain (model PLWF116) keeps the battery and adds the data. During setup the empty base is calibrated in the Petlibro app, and from then on the fountain logs how much one pet drinks, how often it comes back and how long each visit lasts, then warns your phone when the water runs low or the filter is due.
In place of a submerged pump, a small magnetic rotor sits at the bottom of the tank and is spun by a driver in the base, so nothing that touches water carries a wire, and the rotor rinses under a tap. The battery, the radio and the sensors all live in that base, which the manual says must never be washed or submerged.
The log covers one animal, and PETLIBRO's FAQ sends multi-pet homes to the Dockstream RFID Smart Fountain, which reads a collar tag. In a two-cat house the log becomes one blended total that says little about either cat. Sips under 2 ml can go unrecorded, and in sensor mode a cat that drinks from behind the fountain may not be seen at all, which is why PETLIBRO suggests pushing it against a wall.
The cordless model also runs from its cable, so a flat battery does not have to mean a dry bowl. That makes the cheaper plug-in Dockstream 2 (PLWF106) the obvious question for anyone whose fountain will sit next to an outlet anyway, since the two take the same filters and use the same app. What the battery adds is placement: the fountain can go to the hallway corner or the bedroom where the cat already drinks, with no cable across the floor.

How this VS Score was computed
Score 60: each known spec is measured against the median of all water fountains (9 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 64% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.
| Specification | This product | Cohort median | Score weight | Points moved |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Drinking monitoring | Yes | 44% of the class have it | 0.6 | +30.0 |
| Cordless operation | Yes | 56% of the class have it | 0.5 | +25.0 |
| App control | Yes | 67% of the class have it | 0.5 | +25.0 |
| Dishwasher-safe parts | No | 25% of the class have it | 0.4 | −19.2 |
| Filter life | 14 | 28 | 0.4 | −10.0 |
| Battery life | 30 — held to half its range (fewer than six products in this class list it) | 83 | 0.4 | −10.0 |
| Water capacity | 3 | 2.5 | 0.9 | +9.0 |
| Flow modes | 2 | 3 | 0.2 | −3.4 |
| Pump noise | 23 | 25 | 0.6 | +2.4 |

Editor’s note
PETLIBRO's battery figure of up to 30 days rests on a narrow case: one pet, sensor mode, and 30 drinking sessions a day of 45 seconds each. There is no figure for continuous flow, and PETLIBRO says more pets shorten it. A full charge takes seven to eight hours with the fountain idle and up to ten while it keeps running, so the realistic routine is an overnight charge on the cable once a month, not a quick top-up before work.
The tank holds three liters, but the manual's indicator table calls anything under 650 mL "no water", and the FAQ says that is the point where the flow stops. Roughly 2.35 liters are drinkable between refills. PETLIBRO's own advice is to refill twice a week for one pet, which fits that reserve.
The WF116 manual says no part of the fountain goes in a dishwasher. PETLIBRO's help center calls the steel tray and the filter tray dishwasher safe below 194 degrees Fahrenheit, and a PETLIBRO graphic that retailers carry says 212. Until PETLIBRO settles it, I would wash the tray by hand, in water below 122 degrees as the manual asks. The filter schedule wobbles the same way, with the indicator light and the FAQ saying 14 days and the safety page saying weekly for best results.
Against the PETKIT EverSweet Max 2 (UVC), the Dockstream 2 has one clear edge in its own Wi-Fi radio. PETKIT's cordless fountain reaches a phone away from home only through a PETKIT litter box or feeder acting as a hub, while this one talks to the router directly, on 5 GHz as well as 2.4 GHz. The PETKIT answers with a UVC lamp and a much longer rated charge, neither of which PETLIBRO claims here.
Trend charts and syncing across several fountains sit behind the paid Petlibro Care plan. The free app still shows the daily log and the alerts, and for a single cat that is most of the reason to buy this model.

The bottom line
The PETLIBRO Dockstream 2 Smart Cordless Fountain earns a VS Score of 60, above the median of the 9 water fountains it is measured against (a score of 50 is level with that median).
- Who it’s for
- An owner of one cat who has been asked by a vet to keep an eye on water intake and wants the log on a phone without another device acting as a hub.
- Who should look elsewhere
- Multi-cat homes that want per-cat numbers, since this model records one pet, and anyone who wants to clean the whole fountain in a dishwasher. Look at PETLIBRO's RFID version or a PETKIT instead.
- The trade-off that matters
- Cordless placement is paid for with an overnight charge every few weeks, and the battery claim assumes one pet drinking in sensor mode.
- The main alternative
- PETKIT EverSweet Max 2 (UVC): also cordless, with a UVC lamp and a far longer rated charge, but its remote alerts need a PETKIT feeder or litter box as a hub.
