PETKIT EverSweet Max (Cordless): Specs, Pros & Cons
PETKIT still sells the original EverSweet Max (Cordless) alongside its successor, the EverSweet Max 2 (UVC), and the two share the same body: a low, wide three-liter tank, a stainless tray with a non-stick coating, and a detachable control module that runs the pump from a built-in battery. What the older model gives up is the UVC lamp in the pump and the dishwasher-safe rating PetKit claims for the newer parts. What it keeps is the cordless idea that made the Max interesting in the first place.
Cordless here means the fountain can sit anywhere in the house (a hallway, a bedroom, a spot away from any socket) and run for weeks on a charge, with PetKit quoting up to 83 days at its default intermittent flow. A motion sensor mode, enabled in the app, runs the water for a minute when a pet comes close, which both saves battery and gives cats the moving water that tempts them to drink. Standard and intermittent modes are there for anyone who prefers a schedule.
The app connection is the part most likely to surprise buyers. It is Bluetooth, not Wi-Fi. Drinking frequency and duration, filter life, battery level and low-water warnings all sync when your phone is in range. Seeing them from outside the house needs another PetKit device acting as a hub. PetKit's own product page carries a review from a buyer who expected remote access and sent it back.
Filtration is a single multi-layer cartridge with a cotton and activated-carbon stack in a one-way circulation loop, with PetKit recommending a monthly change. The tray tilts slightly so hair drifts to one edge. What it does not have is any sterilization, as PetKit's FAQ says, and the UVC pump is a separate purchase. It is aimed at cats and small dogs, and for a multi-cat home the tank size is the real reason to pick it over the Solo range.

How this VS Score was computed
Score 65: each known spec is measured against the median of all water fountains (8 products), then weighted; 50 means level with that median. In classes of six or more, a value beyond the class’s 10th–90th percentile range counts as that limit, so one extreme product cannot set the scale. 63% of the scoreable weight could be used; unknown values, features not applicable to this class and proxies (battery capacity where a rated life exists) add or remove nothing.

Editor’s note
The case for buying the older Max over the Max 2 comes down to what you think UVC is worth. PetKit's UVC pump is a lamp inside the pump housing, not a whole-tank sterilizer, and independent evidence for what it achieves in a pet fountain is thin. If you clean the fountain weekly, which PetKit itself recommends for both models, the practical hygiene difference is small. The dishwasher-safe claim on the newer parts is a more concrete convenience, and that alone may decide it for you.
What I like about the cordless design is that it changes where a fountain can live. Cats often refuse to drink next to their food or in a busy kitchen. Putting the water in a quiet corner with no cable to chew or trip over is a behavioral win. The battery life claim is at the default intermittent setting, so expect less if you run continuous flow, and the unit charges over a USB cable with no adapter in the box.
The weaknesses are shared with the whole EverSweet range and one is specific. Shared: a small emergency reservoir is the only thing standing between an empty tank and a dry pump, and there is no window to check the water level from across the room, so you rely on the app or the indicator. Specific: Bluetooth-only connectivity makes the drinking data far less useful than it looks unless you own a PetKit hub device. For a single-fountain home the app is essentially a local dashboard.
I would buy this for a cat that drinks poorly and needs the fountain placed somewhere a cord cannot reach, and I would buy it over the Max 2 when the price gap is wide. I would choose the newer model if I wanted dishwasher cleaning, and I would look at PETLIBRO's Dockstream Cordless Fountain if I wanted a lighter, smaller battery fountain for one cat.

The bottom line
The PETKIT EverSweet Max (Cordless) earns a VS Score of 65, above the median of the 8 water fountains it is measured against (a score of 50 is level with that median).
- Who it’s for
- A cat that drinks better away from the kitchen, in a home that wants a large-tank fountain placed wherever there is no socket and is happy with local Bluetooth data.
- Who should look elsewhere
- Owners who expect remote monitoring or UVC sterilization. This model has neither unless you add a PetKit hub device and a separate UVC pump.
- The trade-off that matters
- You keep the cordless placement and the large tank but give up the newer model's UVC pump and dishwasher-safe parts, so the removable parts still need to be washed by hand.
- The main alternative
- PETKIT EverSweet Max 2 (UVC): the same body with a UVC pump and dishwasher-safe parts, worth the step up if cleaning convenience matters more than saving money.
